Manufacturing

Manufacturers face the common challenge of using their equipment, technology and personnel in the most efficient and cost effective ways.

While ERP/MES operational systems sometimes provide basic planning and scheduling modules, they are typically too generic and lack the tailored functionality required by companies for their specific operational planning and scheduling.

To address this, manufacturing organisations augment their operational systems with Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) solutions that take into account the actual tasks that need to be performed and the constraints faced.

Reckon Digital works with manufacturing organisations in industries as diverse as gas turbine production and steel forging & ring rolling. The Stratagem APS solution integrates with the most popular ERP/MES applications and enables schedule optimisation based on multiple constraints. Its visual interface allows for easy understanding of schedules at a glance, real time responses to changes with minimal disruption and the creation of what-if scenarios to explore alternative scheduling plans.

Logistics

Logistics is the element of supply chain management that plans, implements and controls the transportation of goods between the point of origin and the point of delivery to meet customer and production requirements. Examples can include transportation routing (determining the optimal way to deliver goods), fleet optimisation (deciding which size of vehicles are optimal in a fleet) and resource allocation (working out the optimal allocation of machines to tasks).

Logistic problems are classic optimisation problems and when they are small - that is, when only a small number of options exist - they can be optimised by hand. However, when operations exceed a certain complexity, decision making becomes more difficult.

Reckon Digital produces optimisation software for logistics problems. The Stratagem LOG solution is designed for addressing combinatorial and routing problems in dynamic systems: where an objective exists, such as the minimisation of costs or the maximisation of production or utilisation, and where there are multiple and changing constraints and a discrete number of outcomes.

Governance and Humanitarian Operations

Reckon Digital has had a long-term agreement with the UN's World Food Programme (WFP) since 2016, focused on software design, development and support services. Currently it provides the WFP with consultancy and software development on SCOPE, WFP's beneficiary identity and benefit management system.

Healthcare

Reckon Digital works with clients on multiple fronts in the Healthcare sector.

Healthcare Planning and Logistics

Healthcare providers need to optimise how they allocate limited resources (such as staff, equipment, facilities) in order to deliver healthcare to patients. This is another form of the logistics problem and Reckon Digital's experience and software solutions are ideally suited to these tasks.

Data Science for Disease Management

Large amounts of data collected from patients can be mined for insights and used to build models for prediction. One such example is in the management of Parkinson's Disease. Using data collected from sensors on patients, Reckon Digital is creating a digital system with machine learning to monitor the behaviour of sufferers to enable doctors to make better decisions about medications.

Analysis and Strategy; User Experience Design

Managing information in the healthcare sector is a constant challenge - ranging from maintaining levels of confidentiality on patient notes to the collection and sharing of knowledge within large pharmaceutical companies.

Reckon Digital conceived the strategy for the creation of a marketing operations portal for Bayer Pharmaceutical. This was a company-wide management system to share knowledge and measure marketing effectiveness.

Research and Academia

Reckon Digital's staff of researchers, software architects and developers all have an in-depth knowledge of software development both as a research field and as an industry. The company is closely associated with the Intelligent Data Analysis research group at Brunel University in London and has provided services to University College London, Goldsmiths University and the École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP).
